Jesus' followers said to him "Show us the Father [God]". (John 14:8)
And Jesus answered and told them that since they have seen Jesus, they have seen God.
Let's look at the passage in the New Living Translation...
Here is the passage again, as per our discussion above.
who expresses himself in three personas (Father, Son, Holy Spirit).
The Father is called God (Galatians 1:1, Titus 1:4).
The Son, also called the Word of God, or the Logos of God, is called God (John 1:1,14; Acts 20:28; John 20:28; Titus 2:13; Hebrews 1:8).
The Holy Spirit is called God (Acts 5:3-4; 1 John 4:2,3; Hebrews 10:15,16).
Unity within the Trinity is seen in a verse such as Matthew 28:19, where the Father, Son and Holy Spirit comprise one name (singular in Greek).
So the author of Hebrews states that Jesus is the expression of the very radiance of God's glory, and is the expression of God's person...
The Author of Hebrews is quoting God the Father as referring to Jesus as God.
I.e., God, in the persona of the Father, is telling us that God, in the persona of Jesus, is God.
John 1:14 -- And the Word [Jesus] became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory...
The writer of Acts is stating that God purchased the church (the body of believing Christians) with His own blood. This reference is to the blood of Jesus Christ which was shed on the cross.
The writer of Acts is stating that Jesus Christ is God (i.e., It was Jesus who shed his blood on the cross for the sake of those who would become believers in him; this is referred to by the writer of Acts as God purchasing the church with His own blood).
Verses 26-29 provide additional detail:
So here we see the disciple Thomas referring to Jesus as "My Lord and My God". It is evident that Thomas had come to the conclusion that Jesus is God.
We also see that Jesus commends Thomas for his statement. If Jesus did not accept the truth of the statement (from Thomas, that Jesus is God), he would have rebuked Thomas. But he did not rebuke Thomas, rather he commends him for having come to the right conclusion.
Are there things in our universe that don't appear completely comprehensible to human minds?
Yes.
Is it rational then that God can be beyond our complete comprehensibility?
Yes.
Is God completely comprehensible to human minds?
The short answer is No. See verses below for instance.
What does Jesus say about Himself?
Consider a situation where Jesus' followers asked him to show them God.
John 14:6-11... Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known who I am, then you would have known who my Father is. From now on you know him and have seen him!" 8 Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and we will be satisfied." 9 Jesus replied, "Philip, don't you even yet know who I am, even after all the time I have been with you? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking to see him? 10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I say are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me. 11 Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of what you have seen me do.
Note that when Jesus refers to "the Father", he is using an idiom (which his disciples had been using) meaning God. So, to help our understanding, let us read the passage again and replace all references to "the Father" with "God".
John 14:6-11... Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to [God] except through me. 7 If you had known who I am, then you would have known who [God] is. From now on you know [God] and have seen him!" 8 Philip said, "Lord, show us [God] and we will be satisfied." 9 Jesus replied, "Philip, don't you even yet know who I am, even after all the time I have been with you? Anyone who has seen me [Jesus] has seen [God]! So why are you asking to see him? 10 Don't you believe that I am in [God] and [God] is in me? The words I say are not my own, but [God] who lives in me does his work through me. 11 Just believe that I am in [God] and [God] is in me. Or at least believe because of what you have seen me do.

John 20:28 -- And Thomas answered and said to [Jesus], "My Lord and my God!"
26 And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace to you!" 27 Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing." 28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" 29 Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
