Homework Assignments
There are three kinds of assignments for this course. These are:
Chapter Homework Assignments
- Description: Numerical or graphical problems are assigned for each chapter. Typically, each assigned problem is modified from one of the odd-numbered problems at the end of the relevant chapter in your text-book. Numerical values have been changed, or minor descriptions have been changed for each problem. For your convenience, the number of the problem from the chapter (which is similar to this assigned problem) is indicated at the beginning of the assigned problem. Worked out solutions are provided for these end-of-chapter problems (for you to use as a guide/ tutorial example if needed). Note that the numerical answers from these worked-out solutions are not likely to be the same as the numerical answers to your assigned homework problems.
- Due by: midnight of the Saturday listed in your homework assignment schedule.
- Submission: submit homework over this website (login from the home-page of this site).
- If Website Submission of Homework does not work:
- Only then, submit homework by email to instructor.
- Email title: List chapter title, e.g., email title = "ch 1".
- Do not mix assignment types within a single email (i.e., include only chapter homework, not chapter + lab homework in a single email).
- In the case of graphical answers, have a paper-copy of your worked out solution ready to provide to your instructor.
Extra Credit Assignments
- Description: Extra credit points and/or assignments will be assigned (on an optional basis) during the class lecture sessions.
- Due by: midnight of the Saturday after the lecture session in which the points and/or assignments were assigned.
- Submission: submit the extra-credit homework over this website (login from the home-page of this site).
- If Website Submission of the extra-credit assignment does not work:
- Only then, submit extra-credit assignment by email to instructor.
- Email title: should state "ec +1" if you are requesting 1 extra-credit point; or "ec +2" if you are requesting 2 extra-credit points etc. A maximum of 4 extra-credit points is permitted per week.
- Do not mix assignment types within a single email (i.e., include only extra-credit homework, not chapter + lab + extra-credit homework in a single email).
Lab Assignments
- These will be assigned by your lab instructor, and are to be submitted to her (or him).
