Attendance: Class participation contributes to your grade so repeated absences will negatively impact your final grade. In addition, exam questions may be pulled from my lectures. Excused absences due to illness must be accompanied by a doctor's note. Instructor should be notified ahead of time for other absences which may be excused.
Final Exam: The final exam will be held on 11-May-10 from 5:45 pm to 7:35 pm in room PS101. The exam will be comprehensive.
Disability Accommodations: The college will make any reasonable accommodations for persons with documented disabilities. Students should contact the Student Disability Resource Center before you come to see me about such accommodations.
Laboratory: In order to receive credit, you must also take the laboratory, PHY121 University Physics Laboratory. The laboratory is independent of this class in terms of registration but not in terms of grades. The lecture and the laboratory complement each other by covering different aspects of the same material. The lab must be taken concurrent with PHY121 lecture.

Food & Drink: Food and drink are NOT permitted in lab and classrooms.
Homework: Homework assignments will be given throughout the semester. Homework assignments are due on the assigned due-date each week, no exceptions. Late homework assignments will not be accepted. Every homework assignment should include your name, answers to questions, as well as the logic you used to arrive at the answer. Homework assignments deemed to be illegible by the instructor will not be graded and a zero score will be recorded. Ensure your handwriting is legible, and answers to questions are clearly labeled.
Cell Phone and Beeper Policy: Cell phones and beepers may not be left on during the lecture period. Please turn off all ringers before the lecture begins. Students interrupting lecture with repeated phone or pager rings will see a reduction in their class participation grades.
Withdrawal Policy: Students who are unable to continue the class for any reason, are responsible for dropping the class. If you have been attending the class at any point during the semester and you stop coming, it is your responsibility to give me written notice that you would like to drop the course. Failure to do so will result in an "F" at the end of the semester. Check with MCC for last date for student-initiated withdrawals.
Academic Dishonesty Statement: The college has the following position on academic dishonesty:
"All students assume as part of
their obligation to the College the responsibility to exhibit in their academic
performance the qualities of honesty and integrity. All forms of student
dishonesty are subject to disciplinary action. They may include, but not be
limited to: cheating, fabrication, facilitating academic dishonesty, and
plagiarism."
Course content and dates of exams and assignments may vary from this outline to meet the needs of this specific group.
Acknowledgments: Thanks to Ms. HT and Dr. MJ for syllabi (which have been modified appropriately to create the current syllabus for this class).
